In-Banner Video: Video File Size can be up to Maximum of 1MB for Broadband delivery and 500KB for Narrowband.
Animation Length: Non Video Banners, including Animation GIFS do not have a loop maximum, but total animation time for all loops combined cannot exceed 15 seconds.
Audio: No host-initiated banner audio is permitted. All audio must be user initiated by click (Host-initiated animation is permitted, but any accompanying audio must be muted until user-initiated by click.) Must contain visible stop/play and pause or mute functionality. Looping: User can select additional loops by using play functionality
URLs: Neither the target URL nor the click-through URL may exceed 200 characters. If URL is not submitted, we will default to the URL identified in the contract; the URL you provide must be viewable in Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 and above and Netscape 4.0 and above. Creative Guideliness: All click-through URLs must open in a new browser window.
CrankedTV or Madcap Media Inc. reserves the right to reject any insertion, graphic, text description, or URL.
Text ADs may not employ rapid/"strobing" animation of any graphic, copy, or background elements(s).
Banners should be encased in a border and distinct from the content. If borderless, a banner must contain the advertiser’s name to signify that it is an ad creative banner, not content.
Ads may not have transparent backgrounds and may never blend into the screen content.
Television and print advertising standards prohibit advertisers from issuing ads, infomercials, or infotisements in such a manner that the viewer or reader believes the content is news, rather than advertising. CrankedTV or Madcap Media Inc. interactive properties may not be used to imply affiliation with or an endorsement by Madcap Media Inc—whether a Madcap Media Inc product, content, or service—unless such a relationship exists.
Flash Coding: Please note that Flash ads must conform to all standard interactive ad specs and guidelines - including file size, animation, and content - in addition to the specific coding specs noted in this document (follow Design Guidelines below). All creatives should be free of harmful applications including ActiveX, viruses, exit pops and other forms of malware. Creative coding should not use cross domain scripting or set cookies in unapproved domains. Important: If a third party is serving the ad, please follow that vendor's instructions for coding the Flash click through. All other aspects of the creative (i.e., file size, animation, etc.) must be in accordance with the specs above. SWF Movie Requirements (for the Flash developer) For the most part, the movie is made like any other Flash movie. Any animation or ActionScript that would normally be used can be used with this method. The main difference is in the click through (getURL) actions. SWF Specs: Flash version v.5, 6, 7, or 8, Frame Rate should be 12-18fps. Animation 15 sec max. Animation on rollvoer is allowed as long as the animation stops as soon as the user rolls off the ad. getURL actions: The URL should be _level0.clickTag (underscore level ZERO period clickTag), The URL is set as an expression (5&6), The target window is set to "_blank", Variables is set to "Don't send", URLs must be included with submission.
HTML Coding: HTML provides banners with interactive capabilities. Users interact via radio buttons, drop down boxes, search, and blinking text. Ads must be live and fully functioning at time of submission. No JavaScript except for onChange events.
Submission Process: You may purchase your own Ad Space and manage your own creatives or work with your Account Services Representative contact to determine the best process for submitting artwork. Historically, the most effective submissions have been through Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or banner pick-up sites. In order to help us implement your contract as quickly and efficiently as possible, please supply the following:
Advertiser name as it appears on AOL Canada Media Network insertion order/contract
Campaign name, Contract insertion order number, Submitter's name, phone number, and email address, Madcap Media Incsales representative, Campaign start/end date, Destination URL for creative, Geo-Targetting of Provinces/Countries required (Additional cost) |
